RE/MAX Global Headquarters Creates Blankets for Children’s Hospital Colorado

RE/MAX Headquarters is the home of more than just global training sessions, executive leadership offices, and friendly staff (who always offer water and cookies!). This building was transformed into a craft center in May 2019, as the RE/MAX HQ employees set up shop to create fleece blankets for the patients at Children’s Hospital Colorado.

Melissa Spring, Strategic Alliances Account Representative and FUN Committee Member at RE/MAX HQ, wanted to coordinate something that would bring together the employees in a day or hour of service to do something to help their community. The team decided on making fleece blankets to give to children at Children’s Colorado.

“Blankets are something we give to the inpatient kiddos – the kids who stay overnight in the hospital” says Kacie Thomas, Manager of Corporate Partnerships at Children’s

Hospital Colorado. “This is something that they can have to physically and emotionally comfort them in their experience, and take home with them upon release to have a reminder of how strong they are.”

Seeing as Children’s Colorado serves more than 230,000 per year, the blankets are always in high demand.

Spring and her fun committee team purchased fleece of all patterns, colors, sizes, and shapes. They set up a few tables in a common area for employees to join them as their schedule allowed to help create the blankets with a few simple tutorials.

After a few hours of bonding, background music, and sharing stories about the importance, connections, and value of Children’s Colorado, fifty fleece

blankets had been completed.

“We are so grateful to RE/MAX Headquarters and their FUN Committee for dedicating their second quarter activity to our cause.” Thomas remarks. “These kids love – and truly need – these blankets of comfort and hope.”
