During the month of May, you can help to change kids’ health for your local children’s hospital – Children’s Hospital Colorado! Shop online or in-warehouse at Costco, donate to help kids, like Jackson. In June 2012, Traci and her husband, Chris, received heartbreaking news: Jackson, the baby boy Traci was pregnant with, would be born with half a heart. Their doctor immediately sent the couple to the Children’s Hospital Colorado Heart Institute for specialized care. Jackson was diagnosed with CHARGE syndrome, an acronym for many of the symptoms related to this diagnosis, an extremely complex condition. In the first several months of his life, he had two heart surgeries. Although Jackson has continued to develop and grow into a funny, friendly elementary schooler, his future remains uncertain. Due to the complex nature of Jackson’s body and syndrome, doctors do not believe he would recover from the third surgery he needs to survive past his teenage years. Donations support programs and research which may be Jackson’s best hope.

The Costco fundraising campaign runs through May 31 where funds go to the local member hospital to directly help kids, like Jackson in our community. Since 1988, Costco employees and members have donated more than $8 million for kids treated at Children’s Hospital Colorado!

Through donations collected during the annual campaign, hospitals can provide treatments and healing patients desperately need today so that they can fulfill their potential for tomorrow – ultimately having ripple effects that positively impact our communities and our world for years to come.
