Local Walmart and Sam’s Club stores are once again joining forces to raise money for Children’s Hospital Colorado during the annual Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals campaign.

In 2018, Walmart and Sam’s Club associates, customers, and members raised $1.4 million for Children’s Hospital Colorado, making them the highest fundraising market in the country for the second consecutive year. Last year, Walmart and Sam’s Club passed the $1 billion fundraising mark for CMN Hospitals in the U.S. and Canada, the largest amount raised for a nonprofit.

“We are so lucky to have passionate associates and leaders in the Walmart and Sam’s Club families here in the Denver market.” Says Kacie Thomas, Manager of Corporate Partnerships at Children’s Hospital Colorado Foundation. “Each year, when I think they have experienced burnout or hit a plateau, they continue to amaze me with the records they break and the dedication they show. We are going for our third year to raise over a million dollars and take the title of highest market in the nation! We are so immensely grateful for the advocacy of Sam’s Club and Walmart.”

Money is raised primarily through a register campaign where customers and members contribute $1 or more when they checkout. Associates also fundraise in other ways including bake sales, in-store contests, and events. Stores across the Denver market are hosting additional staff fundraisers including donating to wear red, white, and blue on Flag Day (June 14th) and 4th of July, executing a Manager Pie-In-The-Face, employee barbecues, and other fun, creative ways to donate.

This year’s register campaign runs until July 7th. Customers and members can conveniently donate to Children’s Hospital Colorado when they check out at any Colorado, Wyoming, or Western Nebraska Walmart or Sam’s Club stores. Funds are allocated to Children’s Colorado’s Children’s Fund, which is dedicated to the greatest area of need at the hospital. This could include equipment, research, supplies, family aid, charitable care, and a variety of other needs the hospital has.

Walmart and Sam’s Club joined the CMN Hospitals fundraising family in 1987 with Sam Walton himself being personally involved in the beginning of the relationship between the organizations. The fundraising campaigns supports Walmart’s goal of giving back to local communities.

Customers and members can help spread the word about the campaign via social media using the hashtag #HelpKidsLiveBetter.
