Walmart Delivers to Support Children’s Hospital Colorado

In a time where the world’s most urgent message is to support each other, Walmart has delivered – literally.

Children’s Hospital Colorado is among hundreds of hospitals across the country who are navigating new territory during the COVID-19 pandemic. Staff at Children’s Colorado have been diligently following CDC recommendations with additional PPE, work from home policies, and updated visitor restrictions.

Within the new and ever-changing medical environments at the hospital, some of the typical needs have become urgent. As one critical request for baby supplies was announced, Walmart Distribution Center 6019 in Loveland immediately answered the call. The D.C. General Manager Bill Hornick had no hesitation to step in and help.

Fifty-two minutes passed between the time the request was sent and the time Bill had the semi-truck (yes, you read that right – SEMI-TRUCK) of supplies loaded and ready to go. Walmart Driver Marc came to Children’s Colorado with the special delivery of diapers, formula, and wipes in tow. The items were off-loaded into the hospital’s basement to be used immediately.

Three days later, a request for grocery bags was announced for the Children’s Colorado Healthy Roots Food Clinic. This program is based on the principle of Food as Medicine and the belief that hunger is a health issue. To promote and support the health of patients and their families, the Food Clinic provides nutritious food, guidance on community resources and basic nutrition and safe food education support to Children’s Colorado Health Pavilion patients and their families.

Walmart Store 5137 in Aurora was quick to step up, donating 4,000 grocery bags to our clinic. Again, with only a few hours in between the call and the answer.

We are so proud to partner with the Walmart family during these uncertain times. Thank you Walmart for your generous and prompt support!
